Disability Learning: Community Wide Learning & Discussion

3:30 PM - 5:30 PMYM-YWHA, 52 Nagle Avenue, 2nd FloorWhat is disability justice? What does it mean to hold and enact disability justice as a communal value? We'll come together to learn and discuss as a community. During Shabbat morning services on Dec 7, we’ll be hearing a Devar Torah on the topic and have sign language interpreters. On Sunday Dec 8, we will learn with renowned religious scholar and disability activist Rabbi Julia Watts Belser. Schedule: 2:00-3:15pm - disability justice and allyship workshop 3:30-5:30pm - community-wide learning and discussion---What does this look like at FTJC? 5:30-6:30pm - dinner for all participants, Please RSVP for dinner by 12/1 so we can ensure enough food. 6:30pm - 8:30pm - queer/disability allyship session, for anyone in the FTJC community who identifies as disabled and/or queer - RSVP's greatly encouraged but not necessary. RSVP's for the dinner and/or the queer/disability allyship session can be sent to jcbelasco@gmail.com by Sunday 12/1.
