Although Mother’s Day isn’t specifically a Jewish holiday mothers are certainly important in Jewish life. Join Sheva Zucker for a belated Mother’s Day session in which we will look at some Yiddish poems about mothers (in English translation). The poems speak of mother-child relationships (from both angles), love and rebellion, the changing relationship to Jewish tradition, survival during the Holocaust, the sadness of watching a parent grow senile and much more.
