Disability Learning Weekend

What is disability justice? What does it mean to enact disability justice as a communal value? How can FTJC members ally effectively with each other around this issue?

Please join us as we come together this coming weekend to learn and discuss as a community. During Shabbat morning services on Dec 7, we’ll be hearing a Devar Torah on the topic and have sign language interpreters.

On Sunday Dec 8, we will learn with renowned religious scholar and disability activist Rabbi Julia Watts Belser

Schedule (note revisions from previous advertised schedule!):

2:00-3:15pm - disability justice and allyship workshop with Jess Belasco and Ana Rubinstein

3:30-4:30pm - text-based learning and discussion with Julia Watts Belser

4:45-6pm - Access 2.0 with Julia Watts Belser - how can we create truly accessible communities

6-7pm - dinner for all participants. Please RSVP for dinner by 12/3 so we can ensure enough food.

7-8pm - queer/disability allyship session, for anyone in the FTJC community who identifies as disabled and/or queer - RSVP's greatly encouraged but not necessary.

RSVP's for the dinner and/or the queer/disability allyship session can be sent to jcbelasco@gmail.com.
